We had the place all to ourselves; post-Christmas bliss…

What better place to have a photoshoot, than in a warm (and quite humid) greenhouse! With rows and rows of green plants, the leading lines of this location are a photographers dream.

I’ve worked with Victoria & Mitchell before and was excited to have another chance to photograph them as the young, very much in love couple that they are.

The day that we decided to go, Bluegrass was closed to the public but they were kind enough to allow us to come in anyways and just be aware of the workers who were taking down the Christmas decor and setting up for the New Year sales. Trying out a new location is always a bit nerve wracking, but it also allows me to use my creativity more than usual. Working alongside Victoria & Mitchell’s ideas for locations and poses, we worked our way from the very green, tropical plants area…over to the Christmas Tree room that held trees of various decorations, Christmas decor, signs, etc. In that Christmas area, we reenacted putting a star on the top of the tree, choosing an ornament, walking amongst the rows of foliage. The light was dreamy as it cascaded in through the greenhouse glass above us.

Before heading outside, we headed back to get a couple more shots in the tropical plants, and then went outside to see what locations we could find. Near the entrance of the parking lot, Bluegrass has an old truck with rocks next to it. The perfect place to put a blanket down and get some snuggling images of these two with faux hot chocolate. As the sun was just setting and wasn’t quite right on their faces…we opted to do some walking shots and capture them in the evergreen trees before heading back to do those final shots by the vintage truck.

I’m SUPER proud of these images and hope that another couple or family will consider doing a session like this in a unique location like a greenhouse. It creates for some one-of-a-kind images that no one else will have. As I move into the slower season for photography, I plan to do more of these unique sessions ~ message me if you’d like to participate in one!
