This year has been hard in so many ways, and I’m sure (at least I am) we’re all tired of hearing that “we’re all in this together”! Let’s just get on with it and move into a new 2021 year with hopes and aspirations that might actually happen! On this New Years Eve as I watch the ball drop in Time Square, I thought it would be the perfect time to put this final blog post together.
As I drink some sweet German wine and munch on the goodness of a charcuterie board that my husband prepared…I can’t help but be amazed at all the wonderful families and couples I’ve met this past year. Over 150+ sessions including 38 Porch Portraits (my attempt that keeping busy during those early Covid months), 4 weddings, my first year of doing Farm, Fall and Christmas Mini’s ~ it’s been a ride! I wouldn’t have changed a year. It’s been my best year ever and in part, I think that’s due to Covid and how families have realized that they need to slow down and focus on each other more. They look at their walls and photo albums and notice that they haven’t had photos taken in a while. It’s been a heck of a year but I’m excited to have photographed so many families who had “never had photos taken before” or “hadn’t done photos in a while”.
Below is a small recap of the sessions I’ve captured. Some people prefer to not have their images published online and many of the Porch Portraits were done without signing consent forms (so I don’t publish theirs online either).
So what’s up for 2021? Well…6 weddings are currently booked (and hopefully Covid settles down so that those beautiful couples don’t need to reschedule), I may have room for another 2 but that’s it. I’m planning even more Mini Sessions – School Portraits, Easter Mini’s, Fall and Christmas Mini’s that may or may not include a pumpkin patch, reindeers, a big wreath and a tree farm (I”m still working out the details!). One new service that I’m trying out next year are my Birthday Sessions. I want kids to feel extra special on their big day…with the use of simple (and some elaborate) backdrops and minimal props, your child will be the star!
One other major focus for next year is my blogging. It is likely that in the next year or two, we will be transitioning back to the Calgary area and that’s where my blogging will help me develop a new client base there. But don’t worry, I have no intentions of abandoning the wonderful clients that I’ve met here! I look forward to working in Southern & Central Alberta, as long as you’ll have me!
It’s gonna be a ride, but the ride will be worth it! This year, if you haven’t had photos with me…keep me in mind for any photo needs you may have. Have questions about what a session looks like – let’s chat! You will NOT be disappointed, you will adore the photos that we capture – I promise!
Happy New Year Everyone!!! May 2021 bless you in countless ways – stay safe, have plenty of adventures, meet new people, BEAT this Covid garbage…it just turned to 12:00, so I better publish this. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
