A frozen theme…

This is the second year that I’ve taken part in The Princess Ball, here in Red Deer. It is an annual event that has been going on for 9 years now, raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis. Sadly though, this is the last year that founder Kelly Tibbets will be organizing the event…but have no fear, there is a team of people waiting to take over the job of putting this event on for future years!

Through a variety of “Princess Balls” across Canada, Kelly has helped raise $1.5 million dollars for The Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

The event is decorated with balloons, beautiful tables with centre pieces and black/white linens, black chair covers, tons of sequence and white fabric backdrops. The theme this year was Frozen and the kids definitely took that to heart with many dressing up as Elsa. Activities included dance performances by Dance Magic, crafts, a candy table, draws with many stuffed animals and games, face painting, nail painting and yes, a dance floor that lit up with adults and kids alike, dancing to the music of the DJ and flashing lights.

In the far corner, I was set up to take pictures of everyone dressed in their princess gowns and royal attire. It was fun to see so many kids with their hair done up, faces painted and fancy dresses on. Many moms accompanied their kids, a few dads and even some whole families took part. We had a successful day of having fun, creating memories and raising funds for this great organization.

I look forward to participating in this event for years to come. Thanks to Kelly for all her work in organizing it, and I wish the new group of volunteers lots of fun as they plan for 2021!
