Sunset warmth, running off energy, Grandma’s love.

This session has been in the making for almost 2 years, no joke! Daughter-in-law Sheena, bought a gift certificate for Grandma Susan for Christmas of 2017. You heard that right! We have been working around work schedules and nasty weather for the past little bit, but we finally made it happen on this gorgeous August night.

We met at the CPR Train Bridge in Red Deer where it’s always an interesting place to be. Luckily on this night, we didn’t have to dodge too many people walking across the bridge. There are always some interesting “characters” that you meet at this location.

In the end, I spent a little bit more time with this family than what a normal Mini Session would allow, but after 2 years of waiting, I thought they deserved it. We captured some great group shots and of course, some fun photos of the kids. And of course, Grandma got the images she wanted of her with the kiddos.

My favourite photos are the individual ones that I capture of the kids. They normally happen near the end of the session. It gives me a brief one-on-one moment with them where I try to make them feel special and beautiful. And then of course I always encourage mom and dad to do some “couple shots”. Once you have kids, it seems to be all about them, or family photos…but a photo of just mom and dad…often forgotten about. I think it’s important to capture their loving partnership in a shot of just the two of them. And this mom and dad did not disappoint – look at how they look at one another, and hold each other when walking. It makes my heart bubble over when I allow moments like this to happen and capture it for them!
