Shaggy, blind, and wagon rides.

Meet Maggie – a Scottie Westie cross with lots of beautiful white hair and pointy ears. This September, she will be 13 years old and has such a tender personality.

Almost fully blind, Miss Maggie has arthritis in both of her hips and knees. She also seems to be a tad forgetful at times. Yet through all this challenges, she still has a thriving appetite for food. If any meal is “late” in her books, she reminds her owners with a louder bark than usual.

As with any dog, she loved her walks. With her painful hips and knees, walks are a thing of the past. But recently, her two big sisters have implemented “walks” in a different way – by loading Maggie into their wagon and taking her for a ride. Those wagon trips are clearly one of the most joyous times for Maggie as she rides along with a wagging tail and nose stuck high up in the air, sniffing intensely. I’m sure it’s those sweet moments, that remind her of the less painful, younger years of her life.

At 8pm sharp, Maggie makes it known that it’s bedtime for the senior in the house. She barks at her owners, requesting for them to carry her upstairs to her bed.

It has been such a blessing to have met the Crane family, and continue to photograph them throughout the years. Normally, it’s just the girls that I get to photograph…but with Maggie getting older, it’s even more important to capture such photos for the family.
