If you have ever wondered what spurs on a photographer’s passion, you are about to find out. Below are just some of the many reasons why I wouldn’t change my job for anything in the world.
Photography changes how I see things. I notice colours, textures, flowers, trees, people, shapes and light in a way most people never see them. And it’s always changing – just when I think I have “seen it all”, something new pops up to surprise and excite me in this journey.
I pay more attention to the beauty around me. Even the most mundane object or scene can become beautiful when I photograph it in a creative way. It’s a challenge that I love to take on and am always excited to see the result. I love this job because it has developed a fascination with the world around me when I view it through new eyes.
It’s an amazing creative outlet. I get the chance to put a little bit of who I am into each photo that I take. Anyone can click a camera’s buttons but not everyone can truly make a photo come to life. Using different locations, having different subjects, different times of year…no two sessions are ever the same.
It’s a challenge. Creating amazing photos that capture the magic of everyday life doesn’t come without hard work, dedication and imagination. There is always something new to explore and a new way to take the same photos. It’s a job that never gets boring.
I get to meet new people all the time. As a photographer, I work with people from all walks of life. Even though I am an introvert by nature, I love the energy I feel after meeting a new family and doing a session. I almost can’t explain it! Getting to know someone new is a part of the process of bringing someone’s personality through in a photo, especially when dealing with kids or pets. It also makes the job a lot more fun!
The flexibility is great. Being a part-time photographer means I get to work my own hours. This doesn’t mean it’s a laid back profession though. As a photographer, I am always aiming to perfect my craft, take on new challenges and help my clients achieve the perfect pictures. But it does give me the flexibility to take weekends off in the summer to go camping, set my own schedule, take some time during the “slow seasons” to focus on the business aspect of my job (ie. updating my website, revamping email templates, set up my marketing campaign for the year, etc).
I provide my clients with a forever gift of memories. We’ve all heard the phrase “pictures are worth a thousand words”. Well, it’s true. They capture an exact moment in time that tells a personal story about the subjects. They provide an instant recap of emotions and circumstances, that otherwise would have been forgotten. Photos have the power to make you feel happy, proud, thankful, love, peaceful and reflective. I encourage my clients to have professional photos done at least every 2-3 years. Every year would be ideal but may not be possible. Get everyone together (ie. make sure mom is in the photo…since she’s usually the one taking phone pictures of her kids throughout the year), focus on each other for a short period of time, interact, laugh, hug, play together. I consider it a privilege to be the person to capture those moments. I look forward to seeing my clients every year and watching the kids grow through my camera lens.
When you decide to pay for a professional photo session, know that you are hiring an individual who is passionate about what they do and is willing to go the extra mile to help you create beautiful photos that you can treasure forever. That’s what you get when you hire me!

You do take amazing photos. Really creative and I love how you play with lighting. I dreamed of becoming a photo journalist before but my parents said it was not a “safe” career for girls so I took up a totally different major in college. Anyway, if I am ever in the areas you mentioned, I will make sure I take advantage of your services.
I LOVE a good eye in photography. I love the talent that shows something totally outside of oneself. The focus is on something else that the photographer makes absolutely beautiful and unique.
