“She’s my little lemon”

Meet Bella, an 11 year old lab/pitbull mix – a bit of a question mark when it comes to breed but I could clearly see lab in her!

Here’s some fun facts about Bella: She loves her squeaky chicken (who also attended the session) and cuddling with her dad. She has driven across Canada three times including once when per human parents were evacuated from the Fort McMurray fires. She’s quite the food connoisseur – her popcorn treat must be made on the stove, not in the microwave.

Bella is getting up there in age, I would definitely consider her a senior dog. She’s allergic to pretty much everything, has had an ear hematoma twice and currently is dealing with hotspots which can be itchy and irritating. In she short life, she has pulled both ACL ligaments in her back knees. As her mom would say “she’s my little lemon” but she’s incredibly loved.

During our session together, I worked independently with Bella as a way to get her full attention. Treats weren’t the highest priority for Bella, but in the end, she really impressed me with her personality and posing skills. As with most of the senior dogs I’ve worked with, she was most comfortable on the cushy white couch where her aching legs and hotspots could rest with ease.

As with all senior dog sessions, I love to photograph the owners holding onto their furbabies paws, or cuddling close to their head. It shows the bond they have and I anticipate that in the future, these simple close up photos will be some of their favourites.
