Celebrating Atticus’ 1st birthday with cake, balloons & laughs!

Most of my birthday sessions happen in my studio, but this one was extra special (and extra easy!). I was invited over to this clients house where mom and dad had moved the dining table out of the way and created this super cute setting with a star banner, blue/green/silver balloons, pom poms and a BIG #1 balloon.

I always start out my sessions with family photos. This allows the kids to get to know me, see that I’m “ok” and “pretty cool” (ok those are my words, maybe not theirs…ha ha). They get comfortable…and then we move into photos of just the kids. Different angles make all the difference in photos – up high, down low, get in close or stay far away. This is where the creativity peeks during each session, it gets my brain working!

Once that cake came out, Atticus went at it and enjoyed every icing handful! His big sister was the perfect helper, at one point she even helped by feeding him some of the cake. She had the curliest hair and a gigantic smile! And who wouldn’t love little Atticus’ outfit – his overalls reminded me of train conductor outfits.

This session was terrific. I didn’t have to set up, I just had to SHOW UP! Take out my photo and capture some amazing moments in this little boys life. Thanks for including me in his special day!
